There are so many fast food chains in Japan that introduce a ticket machine to reduce labor cost and enhance productivity. Ticket machine with complicated screen operation makes people hesitate to go to the restaurant even if wanting to enter.

For those who don’t understand Japanese, a complicated ticket machine is a trigger for giving up going to the restaurant.

Today, I want to explain how to handle Matsuya’s ticket machine. Matsuya is one of the biggest fast food restaurant chains in Japan. I referred to the following Youtube Video this time.

4 steps to buy a food ticket

  • Select “eat in” or “take away” and language
  • Choose food category
  • Select what you want to eat from individual items
  • Payment

Select “eat in” or “take away” and language

Select language at the bottom of the screen. Available languages are “English”, “Chinese”, “Korean”, “Japanese”

Select, “Eat in” or “Eat out” from the large two buttons placed in the center of the screen.

Choose food category

Choose categories from the seasonal menu and the regular menu. The regular menu consist of 6 categories, which are

  • Premium Gyumeshi (Premium Beef on rice)
  • Gyumeshi (Beef on rice)
  • Curry & Hamburg
  • Set Meals
  • side dishes
  • seperate items

Select what you want to eat from individual items

After you select the seasonal menu or one of the regular menu category, choose one of the individual items. When you do it, you have to select the size options, placed in the bottom of individual items’ boxes. When you select the size, your selecting item is added in the box of the selected list at the top right end.

As necessary, you can also choose side dishes and set meals from the menu at the bottom of the screen.

Set meal menu has salad and a row egg set, pork miso soup, and a row egg set, and chige soup set to individual meals of the regular menu and the seasonal menu.

If you change your mind and want to choose food from another regular menu category, you can re-select the regular menus or the seasonal menus from the global menu at the top.

Payment

Check what you slected from the selected list box at the right end of the screen. If you want to cancel one of the items you selected, you select “X” button, placed in the left before your selected item in the selected list box.

There is a subtotal box under the selected list box, which shows you how much it will cost you in total.

If you can confirm the total bill, you insert bills and coins
