According to a questionnaire to foreign tourists, conducted by the tourism agency, the hardest thing in Japan for most of those who come to Japan for sightseeing is finding a place to throw garbage away.
In Japan, taking the garbage back home is kind of implicit rule that people need to keep. This is kind of Japanese unique peer pressure to be given regardless of whether you are a foreigner and a Japanese.
It is said that garbage box removal has started since there was a sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway. Sarin was said to be hidden inside a garbage box in the station. However, this incident occurred in 1995 and 24 years ago.
The Japanese government has ever been trying to find excuses to remove garbage boxes all over Japan in the name of terrorism and other possible risks. But its real intention is saving up cleaning costs. It always has been covering up its laziness with a plausible theory that brainwashes people into taking the garbage back home.
Fortunately, thanks to a lot of stupid jerks in Japan that has no wonder to keep the f**cking stupid rule and try to force other people to keep it without knowing the government’s real intention, the government deliberately takes advantage of this situation and does nothing about it.
You just look around when you come to Japan, although so many convenience stores and vending machines crowd together everywhere, there is no garbage box anywhere. It is kind of stupid environment in terms of garbage collecting productivity.
I am really angry about this stupid situation where those who come to Japan is always in trouble to throw garbage away easily and Japanese people force even tourists to take garbage home although there is nowhere else for tourists to go back but a hotel in Japan. I really hate this stupid Japanese peer pressure.
Anyway, no matter how seriously I complain about this, I can do nothing about this. Then, at least, I send you information about a touring spot where there are garbage boxes.

I just get on the speed walkway and skip to the first touring point “Nihonmaru”

Actually, I bought a bottle of soft dring at the biggining in order to explain where the garbage boxes are. hahaha
Buying lunch
Cross small bridge to the street along with an array of buildings of Yokohama landmark tower and queens tower.
Shake shake and Mcdonalds are placed around the Grand mall park near the land mark tower. You can buy something at a convenience store “Family mart” in Yokohama Land mark tower, where there is hard rock cafe.
I thought I was going to buy some foods in a shake shake or Macdonald, I gave up buying because of the heavy crowd. I ended up buying my lunch at a food car parked in front of the museum building.
What I bought was “Avocado cheeseburger and chips” costing me 1,200 yen. Little expensive but I counted on its quality.
Let’s find a place to eat lunch ~Rinkai park (臨海公園)
There is a good park where you can command a nice view of Yokohama harbor. It will take you around 10 minutes by walk from Minatomirai Museum.
Walk on the small walk path next to “cosmo world”. This path leads you to the Yokohama Bay area. Just go straight down as you can enjoy good views around here.
The building right there is a cruising station, where there is regular connection among Rinkai park, Yokohama redbrick warehouse and Yamashita park.
Here is where I ate lunch. When it is good wether, nice wind blows and feel really good walking around here. Here is open place where you can see the entire Yokohama Bay area.

There is only one public garbage box in the park. When there is an event in the park, addtional garbage boxes are put in some points.
On the day, there was a food festival in the park. Various street food trucks were parked around the square and selling delicious foods.
This is a hatog originated from korean. It is kind like a deep fired mozzarella cheese.
Garbage box in Yamashita park
The only public garbage box placed in the end (start) of Yamashita park in the direction of Osan bridge. Because there is only one garbage box in the park, The trash always overflows from the garbage box.
In Yamashita park, food events are held frequently. If you find an events as you walk around the park, you should thraw trash into a garbage box the event provides.
These are the garbage boxes that an event promoter prepared
Osan Bridge
Osan bridge is a big cruise boat terminal and is one to famous touring spots in Yokohama. The rooftop area is always open, where you can command a nice view. No garbage box here. Only the thing you can throw away is a plastic bottle.
RedBrick warehouse
The RedBrick warehouse is a really enjoyable place. As often as I visit here, some kind of food event was held. If you walk around here, you probably happen to meet a food event. On this day, German food and beer festival was held in the redbrick warehouse.
There are 3 garbage boxes in the park outside the redbrick warfare site.
